40-th anniversary of Akhmatova`s death - requiem served on poetess grave
Requiem is served today on the grave of famous Russian poetess Anna Akhmatova in Komarovo in commemoration of 40-th anniversary of her death.
Workers of Petersburg apartment-museum of the poetess Fontan House, literary men, sincere admirers of the talent of greatest representative of Silver literary age visited famous village near St. Petersburg, where the poetess rested and willed to bury herself in.
The director of museum Nina Popova started commemoration speech on Komarovo cemetery: "We invited those who wish not only to remember Anna Andreevna in prayers but to decorate her grave, clean it from snow and lay flowers".
Anna Akhmatova died on March 5, 1966. The same day but 13 years earlier died her main persecutor Stalin.
The monument will be erected in her favorite garden. The museum will represent the book "Concluding remarks" covering events of March, 1966 to the guests of the memorial evening.
